Georgia Young

Kia Ora, I am a GPEP 1 registrar having worked across two large, busy, high-needs practices in West and Central Auckland throughout 2024.

I was born in Whangarei and completed my schooling there, before moving south to Dunedin to study Medicine. I spent my first 3 years as a doctor gaining experience in various specialties at Auckland City Hospital, before commencing GP training in early 2024.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my transition into General Practice; the opportunity for improved continuity of care and building relationships with patients has greatly appealed to me.

I have been fortunate enough to prioritise a fair amount of travel in my spare time, which I feel has enabled me to be very open-minded, understanding and interested in engaging and working with people from various backgrounds.

I will always strive to provide my patients with the best, most efficient and empathetic care, am adaptable and work well in fast-paced environments. I look forward to further developing my skills and expertise throughout my career.

• Duke of Edinburgh Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards
• RAD Grade 8 and Advanced Foundation Ballet examinations with distinction (completed 2014)
• CMPS World Champion, Michigan State University Future Problem Solving (science competition)

• 28/02/2020: PROMT Course- An activity approved for meeting points by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Continuing Professional Development Programme. This course involved simulation style learning, covering obstetric and gynaecological emergencies and management of these.
• 2020- Dunedin Public Hospital O&G Audit with Dr Celia Devenish. During my TI elective, I collected and collated data about telehealth and remote consultations during the COVID19 pandemic lockdown to assess the impact and outcomes of this on patient care.
• 07/04/23: ACLS

• Running (Auckland waterfront half-marathon 2024, Wellington half-marathon 2022)
• Group Fitness Instructor (Les Mills Dunedin, Les Mills Newmarket and Auckland City)
• Spanish Language (completed CIE A2 level Spanish, intensive Spanish Language Course in Barcelona)
• I enjoy spending my spare time with my family and pets, baking, traveling and staying active
