I have been the Head Technician at The Court Theatre for almost a decade. During this period, I have managed the production related technical systems and processes within the theatre. I have designed and/or operated lighting and sound for dozens of highly successful shows and productions. Theatre is my passion.
I have good working relationships with many local industry players and am well regarded within theatrical and technical circles and the theatre and staging industries. I have great connections and excellent goodwill amongst local entertainment specialists. I have industry experience in professional Audio-Visual production and have worked as a staging technician locally and nationally.
In-depth in knowledge of job-related software, including ETC Eos Lighting software and consoles, as well as Vectorworks Spotlight and Logic Pro X.
I am primarily a lighting specialist, but have a thorough grounding in Audio practice for theatre. I have experience with radio microphone systems, mid-size PA systems and Qlab Audio-Visual software.
this year, I was one of five bi-yearly recipients of Te Tumu Toi Arts Council 'Out of the Limelight' awards. In My case, for contributions to high quality theatre practice in Otautahi Christchurch. - Principle lighting designer for New Zealand's most successful professional theatre.
- Worked collaboratively with many directors and practitioners to achieve high quality outcomes.
- Worked with production staff and theatre management to assess requirements and advocate for associated equipment needs or important safety standards.
- Determined best lighting design and techniques according to location and situation.
- Prepared and maintained light plot, channel hook-up, instrument schedule, colour and template totals and focus charts.
- Performed maintenance, repairs and software upgrades on sophisticated computerized lighting systems.
- Used Vectorworks to create scale plots for lighting rigs designating fixtures, dimmers and channel numbers.
- Directed and facilitated procurement and installation of lighting equipment and elements.
- Currently advising on technical fit-out and procurement for The Court Theatre's new purpose built facility.
- Oversaw Health and Safety programmes within the technical department, including scheduling maintenance of plant and equipment in accordance with legal requirements.
- Managed technical facilities and systems in a professional theatre environment.
- Handled minor repairs and routine upkeep on lighting equipment by replacing lamps and filters.
