Gained practical experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions in a community setting. Assisted with mental state assessments, participated in care planning, and observed multidisciplinary team meetings. Developed skills in therapeutic communication, risk assessment, and person-centered care

Gained a deeper understanding of patient care, particularly in managing pre and post op conditions.

I learned how critical monitoring is and precision when caring for  premature babies. Also I gained insight into the importance of including the  family when providing care during this time.

I learned the importance of  tailored care for support needs for patients and helping to maintain as much  independence as possible. I gained invaluable experience with promoting  mobility and managing chronic conditions.

  • April 2024- May 2024 TWOM Mental Health Facility, Wellington Hospital, (3 weeks), I learned the importance of active listening, patience and non-judgemental communication when building rapport with patients. I had lots of opportunities to gain insight into therapeutic interventions and to use crisis management techniques

This showed me the stages of  early childhood development and the role of health promotion in supporting  parents. Plunket expanded my knowledge on guidance to give parents about  infant care, nutrition and milestones to look out for.

In a care home setting I reinforced my person-centered care skills, that  respects the dignity and independence of residents. I continued to expand my  experience in delivering daily personal cares and was a good intro into my  nursing skill.
