My name is Guy Harrison I am 23 years old and I’ve always had a passion for disability sports. Growing up with the disability of cerebral palsy has been pretty tough for myself and my family. Participating in disability events since 2012 being a Halberg youth council member for 4 years I have a massive amount of experience in this felid. I have the ability to inspire change and I believe sport has the ability to make a massive positive impact in anyone's life. This job would help me continue to learn new skills and help grow more involvement for people with disability in the Hawke's Bay region which is massively needed.
I have run golf tournaments over the last 3 years and 'Give it a go' driving range sessions in my province, open for all between the ages of 5 to 18 years. With aims of getting more opportunities for juniors to play the game of Golf. Have managed day-to-day operations of this program.
Facilitate the local sports bar on Saturday for the cricket, tennis, football, and Harriers Club during the year. I am responsible for serving drinks and food. Ensuring the bar is cleaned and restocked at the end of each Saturday.
The aim of my role was to give back to the future children coming through with disabilities. I was a member of the Halberg Youth Council with 9 others around the country, but I have now aged out.
I created the Give It a Go monthly activity, which I ran in Hawke's Bay, that increased the number of participants who compete at the Halberg Games.
