• Over 7 months I developed an extensive knowledge about a contract area having worked on the island for the last twelve years with Downer. I have been involved in a number of projects during this time with the latest large scale rehabilitation being Orapiu Road completed in April 2015. The fact that this project was delivered with no LTI’s, within agreed budgets and time frames is testament to my ability to maintain collaborative relationships and deliver to expectations from both the business and clients perspectives. This seven-month project began in November 2014 and was completed in April 2015. This project saw myself overseeing several crews spread throughout the 3 Kilometre site, which involved surveying, pinning and string lines, installation of associated drainage, dish channel and edge beams, rip rap, engineering earthworks in regards to the temporary rock wall and gabion wall installation, undercutting, overlaying and surfacing. This role required myself to liaise daily with the project manager, Contract & Project Engineers and subcontractors; Mitchell Earthmoving, Downer Surfacing, Blue Heron, Total Infrastructure Limited, Gulf Island Earthmovers and SEN Ventures Limited to organise and deliver programme timetables for the crew. These daily communications ensured the early identification and resolution of issues facilitated by the close proximity of the AT and Downer team’s offices on the island, to provide a proactive management service.

Proactive collaboration and engagement meant that a ‘no surprise’ approach was achieved and due to minimal disruption to the roading network on a very challenging site, the reputation of AT was maintained. I believe I was also fully engaged with local business to ensure they were fully informed and disruption to their business minimised. Where necessary this included smart programming around planned events while maintaining agreed delivery times to the client. My approach and style epitomises the collaborative culture AT seeks to establish in this island contract and provide an environment that maintains maximum productivity, whilst ensuring safety for crew on-site and driving a culture of zero harm.
