I am a creatively inclined and passionate individual, deeply committed to the well-being and development of children. As I pursue a long-term career in Child and Family Psychology, I am eager to expand my skill set and gain valuable experience across various industries. I am currently completing my BA Honours in Psychology at the University of Canterbury, where I have honed critical thinking skills, patience, and a keen awareness of both emotional and physical health and safety, particularly in relation to policy in Aotearoa. My studies in anthropology and indigenous cultures have also enriched my understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.
As a Contact Supervisor, I coordinate and supervise court-ordered contact visits between children and non-custodial parents or guardians, ensuring compliance with court directives. I focuse on maintaining the safety and well-being of the children while facilitating positive interactions. My role requires active supervision, adhering to strict boundaries and documenting detailed observations of each session, including behaviours, interactions, and any incidents of concern. Additionally, I effectively manage challenging behaviours and ensure all parties respecte the agreed-upon rules and conditions during the visits.
As a resourceful volunteer in child enrichment, I have extensive experience in providing quality care to children of all ages. I am skilled in designing age-appropriate activities that foster physical, emotional, and social development, and I take great pride in building positive relationships with both children and their families. I have also previously worked in a position as a nanny with children who had special difficulties including neurodivergency and have assisted with severe interpersonal conflicts for them.
As a contact supervisor I am required to organise and coordinate supervised court ordered contact visits between children and non-custodial parent or guardian to align with the court’s request. The need for court ordered supervised contact visits may arise from a range of concerns on the part of the non-custodial parent. Some of these concerns include substance abuse issues and mental health conditions that have impacted on the ability of the parent to care for their child resulting in them being placed in alternative living arrangements.
