I am proven with fostering positive engagement and ensuring safety, as demonstrated at Camp. Skilled in effective communication and teamwork, I excel in environments requiring creative problem-solving and a friendly attitude. My experience spans from child supervision to retail, enhancing customer experiences and contributing significantly to team success.
During my time at camp I worked with children of varying ages, skill levels, interests and developmental stages. I was also a specialist at camp where I worked alongside my co-counsellors to teach children about the horses and how to ride. We would have to work together which developed my team work skills and allowed me to grow my creativity. When working in this environment with an average of 25 kids, camper safety was my top priority. By enforcing camp rules, monitoring the group and being actively involved with the campers their safety was always maintained.
Throughout each day I would greet the customers and help them with any product questions, selection choices and purchases. It was important to keep the shop tidy and clean so that the customers had the best experience possible. Customers would sometimes have returns or issues which needed to be resolved which meant, clearly communicating the store process and any actions we could take to help them. As it is a small local business having a positive attitude means the customers get to know you better which improves their experience aswell.
This was a seasonal job where we worked with root stock. It was important that safety protocols were implemented all day and instructions were followed. safely operating the machinery and tools according to business guidelines during the day was important for my safety but also my co-workers. working in a small team meant we developed a working system. it was important to maintain my hygiene and tidiness as working around the root stock meant I was exposed to harmful chemicals. I contributed to the success of the seasons root stock which would go on to be used in their later harvest to make the plants which later are sold.
I have had horses for about 10 years now. We currently have three on our property which my mum and I look after everyday. I ride competitively in jumping and eventing. I have done various disciplines competitively but just truly enjoy spending time with the horses. My horses are like family, they are a huge part in my life. horses are not straight forward creatures, I would have to say they have taught me a lot and have ultimately shaped who I am. Resilience, kindness and patience are the biggest lessons I have learnt through them. aside from riding horses take up a lot of time with maintenance. horses need a balanced diet that is going to support the workload they have. They will need to be cared for, regular maintenance work from the vets, farrier and body work all important things that I need to manage.
