I coach the Year 3 and 4 St. Andrew's College netball teams for the Christchurch Netball Centre's Future Fern netball program. This included introducing kids to the sport and teaching them basic skills and netball drills to improve their skills for each weekly game against opposing teams in Christchurch. I have coached for a total of two netball seasons. Due to situations that have happened on the netball court and during practice, I have had experience staying calm in a fast-paced environment and making quick and rational decisions regarding the task at hand. This experience has also greatly improved my communication skills, as I have had to make my instructions comprehensive to younger kids and communicate details to parents.
This job involved long hours full of hard work and required me to be physically fit. Working on the farm consisted of aiding in crutching, drenching, drafting, and shearing. I also was involved in mustering the sheep to get them around the farm. For example move them into a different paddock or move them from the paddock to the wool shed. From this job i have gained the appreciation of hard work, which is a skill i have applied in other aspects of my life. This job has also taught me the importance of how to work in a team effectively so that operations move smoothly and the job gets done well.
