  • National Manager position providing governance and oversight of NZ Police workforce management
  • Including developing and implementing recruitment and retention strategies, analysing workforce data, and collaborating with various stakeholders to address workforce challenges and optimise resource allocation through effective deployment and safe rostering practices for the 10,000 deployable staff
  • Lead and manage four teams who provide workforce management services for nearly 5000 Service Centre staff, who are the super-users of Kronos providing technical expertise and administrative services, and build, test and maintain organisation strings in the system
  • This team ensures the mandated training requirement for our sworn Police staff is maintained to ensure compliance levels are met
  • Provide strategic advice and guidance to Executive leaders (including the Police Commissioner) on enterprise and technology solutions and workforce management practices

  • Lead and promote the health and safety of people, our Centre, our processes and wellbeing of our people in a high paced, high demand, and extremely stressful environment
  • One initiative I implemented was the delivery of a Mental Health First Aid package to help our people and leaders out in self recognising changes in themselves and observing in others.

  • Responsible for Eastern District Command Centre, Workforce Management, Workplace Assessments, which oversaw the deployment and redeployment of our people across the district
  • I also held the portfolio of District Recruitment Lead ensuring our recruitment pipeline was maintained
  • This included initial attraction, successful competition of requirements for Police College, and their first two years of employment with New Zealand Police
  • A number of strategies were identified and implemented to increase our success rate of applicants which saw an increase from 8% right up to a 25% success rate
  • Lead the prevention and reassurance phase across Hawke’s Bay following the March 19 terrorist attacks
  • I was responsible for the initial safety response across Hawke’s Bay immediately following the terrorist attack
  • Following on from this, I worked in collaboration with other leaders within the community through reassurance activities, patrols, and communication.

  • Developed an aligned, coordinated working relationship with Council Licensing Inspector and Health Promoter from Toi Te Ora Public Health
  • In partnership we reduced alcohol harm related incidents in the township, decreased calls for emergency services, and reduced alcohol related offending within the Taupo township
  • Co-chair of Emergency Services Coordinated Committee (ESCC) and Hazardous Substance Technical Liaison Committee (HSTLC) in Taupo area which engaged with key stakeholders within Taupo and Rotorua including other Emergency Services, Councils, Health providers, and other critical response capabilities
  • Our mandate was to improve response through collaboration and partnership
  • Implemented a new progressive roster for the Response group to improve our service and manage the wellbeing of our people
  • This involved a review, including demand, accessibility and wellbeing of our people, and community trust and confidence.
