I am a self-motivated, passionate individual with a strong passion for farming. Priding myself on my ability to be a great stockman and pay attention to the small details. I am able to work well both independently as well as within a team environment to get the job done. Can competently complete a wide range of tasks that are essential to the day to day running of any farming operation.
I have a strong desire to grow within this industry with the goal of one day being a station manager. I feel like with the right support, Glenburn Station would be a great opportunity for me to keep growing within the industry.
I have a strong young team of dogs with experience in big mob big paddock situations. Five huntaways and three heading dogs, five of which are fully broken in (3 hunts, 2 heads).
North Island Station. Predominantly breeding with a small finishing sector.
As the shepherd in my role at Kauhouroa Station I am required to complete a range of diverse tasks on a daily basis. This role includes stock movements on a large scale, lambing beats, yard work and general work. The stock movements are a big paddock big mob situation, often with narrow crossings and bluffy areas. Yard work includes drenching, crutching, shearing and vaccinating etc. I am also given the opportunity to break and handle young horses to ride on the lambing beats from August through till docking in October.
Head Shepherd - Intensive Simmental Stud Operation.
As the head shepherd in my role at Tangiwai Station I was required to complete a range of diverse tasks on a daily basis. This role included stock movements on a large scale, yard work, detailed record keeping and animal health monitoring. Feed management through break feeding and feeding out supplementary feed (silage). As the head shepherd I was also tasked with the day to day running of the farm while the farm owner/manager was on annual leave, with the longest period being 4 weeks.

Intensive Bull Finishing Operation with a small breeding sector.
As the shepherd general in my role at Tiniroto Station I was required to complete a range of diverse tasks on a daily basis. This role included stock movements, yard work, detailed record keeping and animal health monitoring. Feed management through cell grazing to maximise weight gain against pasture growth. I was also required to do a range of general work such as fencing, water repairs as well as crutching and drenching etc.
Stock Manager - Intensive Cattle Finishing Operation.
As the Stock Manager in my role at DI &JG Ltd I was required to complete a range of diverse tasks on a daily basis. This role included stock movements, detailed record keeping and animal health monitoring, pasture management, tractor work and development. Feed management through break feeding and implementing a cell grazing system to optimize weight gains and pasture growth. Due to the scale of this block I was not full time on stock, and was required to do a variety of general work such as tractor driving for cropping (market gardening) new as well as repair and maintenance fencing and water works.
Whist in this role I also created a budgeting calculator using excel to manage cash flow and analyse the profitability of variations to the farming model.
Shepherd - Intensive Sheep and Beef Finishing Operation.
As the shepherd in my role at Bay Livestock I was required to complete a range of diverse tasks on a daily basis. This role included stock movements, yard work, record keeping and animal growth monitoring. Feed management through break feeding and feeding out supplementary feed (silage). As the shepherd I was also tasked with day to day stock movements, processing lambs (weighing, drenching, crutching) and general work.
This role provided insight into lambing finishing using crops as well as pasture to get maximum weight gain.

As the junior shepherd in my role at NCG td I was required to complete a range of diverse tasks on a daily basis. This role included stock movements, yard work and general work such as fencing, water works, tractor driving and spraying. Feed management through break feeding and feeding out supplementary feed (silage). As the junior shepherd I was tasked with most of the stock movements, but the role extended to a much wider range of tasks as listed above. Spraying gorse, blackberry and tobacco weed. Fencing involving new and improved lines as well as general repair and maintenance work. Tractor driving involved feeding out as well as ground work.
