Nurturing our very own piece of New Zealand paradise. Taking care of family.
My husband and myself own 90 acres of land in Albury, just off the main State Highway. Here we run a few cattle and sheep, We both work full time. My husband Joe and myself bought this blank property 12 years ago. We built a house, and have developed different aspects of the property. We have planted at least 2000 natives and other trees. I grow up some of the self seeded trees as well as purchase some. Our main focus is the shelter of the house which sits on a hill top. We have magnificent 360 degree views. We have fenced and added water troughs. A slow on going, rewarding job. We often have grand children here to share in our open space away from others. I love my family time and work hard to finish early some Fridays to travel either to Pleasant Point or to Christchurch to collect them. I work hard to save money to spoil all of our 4 children and there family's. We take them on a family long weekend away every couple or so years.
When I ended my employment with Rosevale Farms as the manager, I did this to work full time at the pig farm as they were doubling the size of the herd. My husband, Joe then replaced me as manager of the run off to add to his other farm management job. I then carried on helping him and organised all the heifer/ health for the owner of the stock. This was mainly the drenching and vaccinating of the stock on the weekends. This also included weighing the heifers. I communicated all the time with the property owners and stock owner. We have both made very strong ties to these friends. I was proud of my work and more than happy to have Joe by my side.
