• Provided technical process support to front line operations as first point of call. Issues encountered by Operations staff were investigated in a timely manner. Production processes are regularly checked for efficiency. Optimize plant availability, throughputs, quality, utility usage, yields, composition, and control.
• Well prioritized and implemented process improvements in existing production methods. Issues were analyzed to determine root cause and reach a safe, effective solution. Proactively brought forward any suggestions for further improvements to the team.
• Proactively identified, prioritized and delivered cost saving initiatives across manufacturing plants to improve profitability. Identified opportunities were reported and prioritized as per return on investment and agreed with required stakeholders. Demonstrated ownership of capitalization of opportunities when appropriate.
• Supported and managed technical projects. Business was made aware of potential projects and their benefit via presentations and proposal documentations. Proposals were technically sound and completed on time. Project work is planned out to a responsible level of detail. Work is implemented within the constraints of the project. Contractors are managed to ensure project is completed on time and meet site and quality standard.
• All progress was communicated regularly and work was documented in excellent detail. P&ID of plant and Functional Descriptions were maintained and updated on an annual basis.
• Developed documentation, diagrams, and specifications to meet project requirements and regulatory standards. Some examples were the drafting and review of the Process Engineering Procedure Manual for the various tasks we are responsible for. Use of Promapp was used to develop the team's finalized manual in a process flow chart format.
• Coached newly hired employees and interns while observing progress and delegating tasks.

Based all processing departments (Infant Formula, High Care Skim Milk, Buttermilk, Whole milk, Cream/Butter/AMF, UHT Skim/Cream and Proteins (WPC, MPC, Casein, Caseinates, Lactoferrin).

• Created validation protocols, executed validations, analyzed data results and completed validations across all areas as required. These areas were: Clean-In-Place, Manual Cleaning, HVAC and environmental, project (Installation Qualifications, Operational Qualifications and Performance Qualifications), product, and ingredient, OpPRP and CCP validations.
• Rolled out validations and CIP audits across wider Westland sites – both Hokitika and Rolleston in all processing departments.
• Coordinated with a small group of resources and worked closely with productions (incudes shift work) to achieve the timeline required.
• Assisted with Change Management for onboarding of new Chemicals on site – from facilitating HAZOP team meetings to generating relevant specifications.
• Focused on continuous improvement and plant troubleshooting to ensure accurate CIP and validation outcomes.

Summer Internship

• Provided information to update the validation schedule as well as understand validation requirements regarding completion dates.
• Communicated requirements of validation timings with the plants in order to ensure validations could be completed.
• Ensured completion of validation protocols that already exist for certain areas on site and assisted in preparation of protocols in advance of the validations being completed. Additionally, ensuring that these were followed accurately, this required interaction with plant operators – specific to the area/circuits being validated.
• Accurately recorded all observations and complete validation checklist so that a report can be completed with detailed analysis of results and observations.
• Supported the Snr Validation Technologist and/or Nutritionals ProcessTechnologist for any other tasks to aid the Westland business requirements within my skills and ability.

• Checked packing slips and other documentation to appropriately box items requested by clientele.
• Protected materials for transport by correctly packaging products in boxes and crates.
• Took on extra hours and shifts during busy periods to meet tight shipping deadlines.
• Pulled orders quickly to maintain demanding productivity goals.

• Worked night shifts packnig freshly baked bread, muffins, etc.
• Restocked shelves and keeping these tidy and full for customers whilst preparing the baking trays for the bakes so these would proof overnight and be ready to be placed into the oven in the following morning.
• Took care of cake orders and ensured customer satisfaction in all areas.
