Duties and Responsibilities.

  • Manage all tree crop programs, including establishment, tending, and forest health within the region, to include strategy, analysis assumptions, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Undertake the analysis and planning of establishment and silviculture operations to ensure site establishment and tending are generating the best possible returns for the capital employed. This duty will include the collection of pre-assessment inventory data, regime analysis, and budget and PAR preparation.
  • Select and supervise contractors to ensure that expected quality standards are achieved while project costs are controlled within budget levels. Provide contract administration and payments via the RAPTA system.
  • Responsible for all forest protection requirements including forest health, pest and disease, and security. Manage forest health and nutrition programs including stand assessment, analysis of treatment options, and application of approved treatments. Ensure adequate forest security by maintaining appropriate locked gates and fences. Ensure appropriate signage is in place.
  • Co-ordinate the public use of forests by ensuring that safety, liability and risk concerns are addressed.
  • Manage miscellaneous revenue streams such as the licensing of bees, sporting events and grazing.
  • Accurately forecast capital spending and physical progress on projects to the extent that the drivers of those results are predictable.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to stand records and stand boundaries held in GeoMaster. Co-ordinate with the Forest Information Specialist.
  • Responsible for research and development initiatives relating to site productivity and crop improvement. This includes strategy, budgeting, trial establishment, measurement and control and documentation.
  • Be sufficiently trained and available for duty as specified in Rayonier's fire control and suppression system.
