Summary

I spent 18 years in the Police, including 14 years as a Detective specialising in Adult Sexual Assault and Family Protection. This mahi deepened my understanding of trauma and wellbeing and led me to pursue a counselling degree. I have so far completed 44 counselling hours at Te Puna Oranga, working with a diverse range of whānau aged 13 to 83, across varied backgrounds and experiences. My practice is grounded in Te Whare Tapa Whā and honours balance, relational connection, and culturally responsive care. I strive to uphold mana, foster emotional and physical safety, and build trusting therapeutic relationships that support clients to explore their experiences with dignity and autonomy. My commitment is to build bicultural practice, ethical and reflective engagement, respect for diversity, and the creation of environments that promote wellbeing, empowerment, and self-determination for all whānau I work alongside.
