Work History

Summary

Below is the summary of my work history at C&R Developments where I have been conducted the following roles:

· Senior Machine operator

· Site Surveyor

· Earthworks manager/Site Supervisor

· Health and Safety manager

· Large load pilot

The bulk of my work has been as a Site Supervisor or Earthworks Manager and I have worked between bulk cut to fill operations in Coal Mines and Quarries to large scale civil earthworks contracts with bulk structural fill requirements.

I have had extensive experience in the placement of structural fill in all material types that involved dealing with highly sensitive silts and clays that involve drying or application of moisture to achieve stringent testing targets.

I have also had extensive experience in reading geotechnical plans and horizontal development plans and can interpret long sections and cross sections from paper to screen to the ground.

In my time at C&R Developments I have come develop an in-depth knowledge of Topcon 3D GPS machine control from systems of inception generation to the latest on the market and have also learnt how to troubleshoot most issues and how to apply updates and fix componentry.

I can position check machine accuracies and adjust to suit through machine builds.

I have an extended knowledge of how to use Topcon GPS rovers of multiple generations for set out and survey and also to set up base stations for machine control. I can perform localisations and understand datums and geoids and can use these to apply to plans that specify these parameters.

I have 2 years of experience in applying ground control from GPS rover and flying DJI survey drones for large and small scale survey to be processed for claim and proof of accuracy.

Earthworks Foreman

Gavins Nz
08.2016 - 08.2019

Summary

At my time a Gavins NZ I started as a senior operator and quickly moved up to earthworks foreman.

The bulk of my work involved civil and agricultural earthworks and drainage projects.

Significant projects

Prep and backfill of Birchwood lane culvert on Waikato expressway.

This project involved the stripping of live stream bed and shaping to 3D design and building of crane pads for a 200 tonne crane.

The steel sectional culvert consisting of an 88 metre long and 5 metre pipe was imported from Canada and constructed onsite by construction contractors.

I supervised the prep and backfill of the pipe to design, this involved layering the rock backfill evenly on either side and shooting the sides of the pipe with a total station to ensure that no warping was taking place. NDM and clegg hammer testing was conducted every 200mm lift.

On either side of the pipe we had to work around indigenous native pa sites and large Kauri trees that had native bats living in them so noise and disturbance had to be kept as low as possible.

Largest stock underpass installation in New Zealand.

In early 2016 I supervised the installation of the largest stock underpass in New Zealand at that current time with 11 precast concrete sections that were 3.7 metres high and 5.4 metres wide.

Timeframes were extremely tight with the road closure only being 5 days long from 4am Monday to 6pm Friday.

This was installed under a public road in an opencut fashion, the crew had to work around the main copper communication line through New Zealand and the back up communication line also.

The road was ripped off and sidecast, with the cables carefully dug up and suspended above the work area. The main cut was then excavated to subgrade level and a blind of PAP product placed to laser precision.

A 200 tonne crane pad was constructed for the crane to place the 14 tonne sections in ground and these were tied together with Reid bar. All sections were placed in 18 hours.

The headwalls were installed and backfill commenced with mortar being poured into hollow galleries. The aprons were prepped and had concrete poured immediately. Backfill testing was conducted with every 200mm lift to NZ transit requirements all the way to road subgrade level.

The subgrade was prepped for chipseal and this was laid at 2pm on the Friday.

The underpass installation was executed within timeframes to manufacturers and engineers specifications with no lost time incidents or hold ups.

The road was reopened at 5 pm on the Friday an hour ahead of schedule.

I also undertook various other earthworks projects throughout my time at Gavins such as:

· Dam and effluent pond construction.
