My job at silverfern farms is in the meat industry. I worked in the freezers stacking boxes that weighed up to 27.20kgs. On the green mile is the very start so you get all the fresh meat that comes in and you have to load them on to frames for them to be frozen in store. We loaded 20ft and 40ft containers that we had to fill and write down the tallys and numbers or different types of boxes that were being put in them. I also sorted out boxes to there own frames they call it stripping your job is to unload a frame thats filled with mixed numbers and walk them around to find its own frame. From there you move on to scanner your job is to scan all the fresh meat from the mile and frozen meat thats being stripped and scan them to thier sorted rows in the freezers . You also scan up container contracts and when your finished scanning the container you have to brand every single box individually. I also have 4 years forklift driving experience we stacked the frames 4 high in our freezers we were only to carry 2 frames at a time was the limit for saftey reasons. I could do all driving jobs such as storeman pad driver mile driver and outside driver. driving outside means your pretty much a spear man you load the trucks with pallets you help the mile and pad driver with bringing them in empty frames. You also help out the storeman driver with setting up work and bringing out meat and putiing it away it was my favourite job cause it kept me moving and busy i always had something to do. Pad driver was about keeping the boys stripping busy make sure to change there frames take away the full ones and replace them with empty frames. It is a big hazard area with 4-8 people in a tight area walking around your forklift so have to be real careful and aware on whats going on around you. Being storeman just means your in the freezer constantly pulling work out and putting it back turning or pulling blasts bringing out meat thats getting scanned or loaded in containers. Mile driver was just swapping frames for the boys working make sure to take the full ones off then for those to be scanned then from there you take them in the blasts for them to be frozen
