Summary

Born in Waitara, from 2 years of age I have lived in South Taranaki, and since 1988 have farmed on the Watino Road in Pihama on a property purchased by my late husband (dec.2022) and myself. Together we farmed and certified the land organic in 2004, purchasing additional land on Omuturangi Road in 2006 that we also converted to organic dairy farming. Our family of six adult children range in age from 28 to 38, all knowing how to milk cows but are not currently doing so, based in Scotland, Australia and across New Zealand.

Working with Venture Taranaki since 2023 to trial crops as part of their Branching Out diversification project fits well with our family farm succession plan, and has also created interest and additional motivation amongst farm staff members.

I have worked off-farm in various roles since my youngest child started secondary school, supporting our business and adding a positive impact to my mental health and well-being.

My community involvement has centred around family and business interests, including school boards, farming groups and sport and community committees.
