While being a student I was hired to work as a part time junior nurse outside of my placement hours. I have been supported by the team to learn new skills outside of what I was taught in class and it lead me to be very confident in my skills

• Day to day I assisted the veterinary staff with with patient care and surgical procedures
• Responsible for specimen handling and quality control
• Completed and interpreted urinalysis and fecal analysis
• Monitored pet's pulse and oxygen rates during surgical procedures for their safety and post-surgery supportive care
• Performed dentistry including ultrasonic scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments
• Performed sterilization of instruments and preparation of surgical packs
• Assisted in surgery
• Providing immediate care and assistance during veterinary emergencies, such as trauma, cardiac arrest, or respiratory distress
• Assisting during bitch cesarean sections by monitoring the mother while handling the neonatal puppies and rubbing them to stimulate them
• Accurately filled prescriptions and applied my professional knowledge in answering client questions about the medications.

Customer Service was our focus in store. I prided myself on the level of service I gave and I was lucky enough to have great customer feedback and won Manager of the year 2021 with the highest sale scores and best feedback.

Duties included

• Stock – un-packing stock, put backs
• Opening and closing the store
• Cash handling of large amounts and doing banking everyday to ensure floats were the right amount and having the perfect amount of change for the following day
• I was also responsible for end of day cash up’s
• Recruited, hired and trained 30+ new staff including other managers and developed them into productive team members with excellent product knowledge and customer service skills
• Undertook administrative tasks including inventory management, budget management and report preparations.
