I am currently employed as the Financial Controller at Qube Ports NZ Limited (formerly ISO Limited). The company is New Zealand's leading provider of port stevedoring and marshalling services, owned by ASX listed Qube Holdings Limited.


This highly engaging and dynamic role, which includes a role in the New Zealand Executive Management team, and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) includes key responsibilities such as:

- Managing the entirety of the New Zealand accounting, payroll and shared services functions of the business (10 direct reports).

- Leading the annual statutory reporting requirements and the annual financial audit.

- Leading the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting.

- Acting as the business' primary expert on taxation matters, including preparing the annual income tax return, and providing oversight and review of GST, fringe benefit tax, PAYE and government tax incentives.


The role also requires a strong project management skillset and since joining the business and has included:

- Business lead of the transition of the accounting system to Oracle.

- Business lead of the transition of a new payroll system to Jemini.

- Business lead of the transition of a new accounts payable and automatic scanning system to ApprovalPlus.

- Continual best practice application and project lead to integrate and automate existing system processes and focus team activities on value-add over manual processes.


Being owned by an Australian company on the ASX, the role captures:

- Engagement with Australian group finance and production and critical analyse of monthly and annual management accounts.

- Presentation of the annual budget to the Qube Ports Australia Directors.

- Continual alignment of processes for Australasian group alignment.


Furthermore, a crucial element of the role includes managing 10 local resources, encouragement and development of their skillsets, and strong leadership to ensure deadlines and business expectations are met.

Travel

I love travelling with my family and experiencing new places and cultures, including several visits to the Pacific Islands and Asia, with a visit to South Africa being "on the bucket list"
