With over 25 years’ experience working across retail sales and distribution in the outdoors and bicycle industries in New Zealand and the UK, I’m passionate about helping people get the advice and equipment they need to get out into nature safely.
I’m great at building strong relationships and making sure the people I work with get the best possible outcomes. My career has given me a practical, down-to-earth approach to solving problems—I’m quick to adapt, enjoy working in fast-paced settings, and like working with others to find solutions and make things happen.
I enjoy taking on new challenges and can quickly absorb new and often complex technical information, which helps me connect with people and understand what they need. I’m always looking for ways to make sure my work delivers real value.
Being part of a positive team culture matters to me. I like sharing what I’ve learned over the years and supporting others to do their best. As someone who’s led teams, I know how to bring people together and help everyone work well as a group.
As my family settles into Christchurch, I’m looking for a part-time role that lets me use my skills and experience for the benefit of the community, while still being there for my two school-age children. Having grown up in Christchurch, I’m excited at the opportunity to contribute my experience, skills and life-lessons to the community
Following Specialized Global’s decision to streamline New Zealand operations, I took voluntary redundancy to support my elderly father as he transitioned in to specialist aged care and focus on managing our family’s day to day life, enabling my wife to focus on establishing herself in a new senior, corporate role.
During this period, I have also proactively volunteered my time, expertise and industry connections to support a community-led initiative to create and establish a dedicated bicycle pump track for the children of our local community.
In late August, we made our family decision to relocate to Christchurch and I have used this time to project manage the move and prepare for the move which is targeted for December this year.
