General Duties & Responsibilities:
· Completing psychosocial assessments

· Child Protection – liaising with Oranga Tamariki around birth plans.
· Family violence – working with Police and Refuge; safety planning
· Liaising with other agencies to support patients
· Supporting and advising patients with finances & housing
· Referrals to community agencies
· Complex discharge planning
· Pre decision counselling for abortion service
· Assisting with Social Work Alert Committee
Duties in current Women’s Health Social Work role:
· Providing women with pre-decision counselling prior to making referral to Epsom Day Unit
· Psychosocial assessments to ascertain additional challenges the client may face in order to be able to provide appropriate on-going support.
· Liaising with surgeons at Epsom Day Unit around complex cases that may need further tests or need to pursue an alternative abortion pathway.
· Generating any general referrals that are needed as a result of psychosocial assessment such as support with mental health, family violence and liaising with Oranga Tamariki around identified child protection concerns.
· Liaising with CMDHB consultants around any requests for termination of pregnancy over 20+ weeks.

Orienting staff to work on the after-hours service.
