Biography - Summary

I bring a wealth of business, commercial, political and governance experience to the board table, with qualifications to match.

I am a Board Director of commercial businesses in agriculture and former director of a shared health agency, a former Director and Trustee of an Iwi Post Settlement Governance Entity, and co-chair of Rangitāne o Wairarapa Inc.  I am the Wairarapa Iwi representative for Local Water Done Well - Regional and Local (AOG). I represent Iwi on the Masterton District Council, the Wellington Economic Development Governance, the former Wairarapa Cyclone Gabrielle Governance and Resilience Group, Wairarapa Water Resilience and an Iwi Environment Commissioner on the Wairarapa Combined District Plan hearings panel.

I am a member of the Institute of Directors and hold the Company Directors qualification.

I have a Bachelor of Science degree and other associated master level papers in management from Massey University.

I am a former member of parliament, the former chair of a select committee and government 3rd whip. I have chaired two other parliamentary committees representing NZ in a number of international fora, and been the spokesperson for Maori development, treaty settlements and whānau ora.

A strong candidate, unafraid to tackle the tough decisions and dedicated to the things that matter most to the people of New Zealand.  I believe I would make an excellent Director for the new Health Board bringing to the table voices that are seldom heard supported by my experience and qualifications to do job.
