My name is Joel Hintz and I am a kiwi tighthead prop looking to further pursue my professional rugby career.
I attended Lincoln University on a rugby scholarship where I trained and developed as a player under the Canterbury Rugby system. Upon finishing my degree in Commerce and Agriculture, I have been committed to improving my game both physically and tactically for the past five seasons in the New Zealand Provincial Competition. Here I have represented Canterbury, Wellington and Hawkes Bay.
The last two seasons I have been called into the Hurricanes as injury cover. This was great exposure to the super rugby environment. I was fortunate enough to be able to take the field for them in a preseason game vs Crusaders in 2020.
My passion for rugby is centered around my competitive nature, but I also enjoy the comradery of a team and what it takes for a group of individuals to collectively achieve their set goal.
I have competed in Powerlifting on the world stage, which has given me valuable insights into being accountable for my own success and what it takes to train and compete as a world class athlete. I value my health and enjoy hobbies that challenge me mentally and physically. I am a keen hunter, fisherman and free diver. I enjoy these activities in my leisure time with my mates. They have taught me practical skills and resilience but most importantly I love harvesting and cooking my own catch!
