AWARDS
Tena koutou katoa,
First and foremost, I am a builder who has run my own successful business for the past 30+ years. I am also currently the outgoing Canterbury Registered Master Builders President and feel I am open to a new challenge, using my skills and experience to enable others to succeed.
This role with BCTF caught my attention and it really spoke to me.
I have always enjoyed training and collaborating, as evidenced by my many years on the RMBA Apprentice of the Year Committee which involved judging, assessing and mentoring aspiring builders.
Additional to this, for the past 15 years in my role on the Executive Committee of the Canterbury Registered Master Builders, I have been actively engaged to support builders by promoting networking opportunities. This is demonstrated by my commitment to the monthly stakeholders, associated members and builders executive meetings, support initiatives and social events.
Further to the above, I am involved as the South Island representative on the National Residential Working Group, which advocates to the Government and is called upon to review potential relevant legislation. This involves strategic planning and governance capability to promote positive outcomes for the construction sector.
I enjoy getting amongst it so to speak, rather than being "wrapped up in cotton wool" in an office. This is demonstrated with my membership in the Pacific Trade Training Governance Group in Canterbury, which supports access to pathways for higher education across all Pacific trades. This has given me a real insight into the needs of a wider community and I have developed a good understanding of the cultural and educational needs of Pacific trainees. I enjoy and embrace our multi-cultural society and wish to contribute to a future cohesive, sustainable Aotearoa.
I have achieved everything I want to do in my current construction business and look to a fresh challenge where I can help get the building industry into a better place than I came to it in.
