Servicing and maintaining the biggest ship-lift of its kind in Europe. This position required a wide range of tasks to be carried out such as scheduled maintenance and repair of the systems, manufacturing unique spare parts on the tooling machines, servicing of the canals used by the cargo ships with an array of locks, gates and pump stations. The pumps that maintain the water level in the canals being somewhat similar to the hydro turbines. Working on heights was also a requirement and a regular accurance.

Due to the wide range of work carried out in this workplace, this included the servicing maintenance and repair of the lock systems, pump stations, heavy diesel engines, on board systems on the vessels in the shipyard as well as learning all the machining and manufacturing skills in the workshop.
