Josh Harris

I am a 17 year old attending Westlake Boys High School in Year 13. I will finish school in December of this year with NCEA Level 3.

I am organised, dependable and hard working

I have a passion for aviation which has led me to look for a career in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. My interest has been enhanced by my Grandfathers service in the Air Force as well as my uncle who flys for Air New Zealand. Although not holding a license I have taken the initiative to educate myself about the fundementals of aviation, displaying a strong foundation of knowledge.

I am physically fit and regularly attend boxing sessions as well as furthering my interest in distance running.

I have worked at The Warehouse Milford since September 2022 and I have been an organised and dependable employee. I started in a Nightfill position over the busy Christmas period and recently changed roles to a cashier.

I attended an 8 Day Outward Bound Course in April of 2023 where I showed teamwork, determination and problem solving skills in a physically and mentally challenging environment. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I have discovered a passion for running and completed my first Half Marathon on the 27th of August 2023 and am training to enter a full Marathon by the end of this year. I am also looking at eventually running the Tarawera Ultra Marathon at some point in the future. 

I have an interest in cricket and enjoy playing and watching the games. 

I was also a member of Murray's Bay Sailing Club for many years and it gave me a sound knowledge on the skill of sailing. While I am not a member of a club at the moment I really want to get back into racing and will join weeknight match racing at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.

I have a deep interest in aircraft and aviation hence my application and desire to join the Royal New Zealand Air Force.
