  • I pride myself on working alongside my patients with compassion. I have extensive experience at Middlemore Hospital, Emergency Department so I am able to undertake effective clinical decision-making in a fast-paced environment. With a high number of Pacific patients presenting in Emergency, I aim to provide cultural knowledge to enhance the care for our Pacific patients. I strive to advocate for their needs, ensuring respectful communication and education, while implementing evidence-based practices that will hopefully improve their outcomes with the end goal of delivering quality healthcare. This is all despite in a high-pressure environments.
  • After 12 years of working in a demanding Emergency Department, my dedication and passion for supporting our Pacific patients is stronger than ever. With our Pacific population steadily growing, more Pacific are seeking medical care. Focussing on removing barriers such as health literacy so that our patients can get better access to effective health care, only deepens my commitment to providing culturally safe & compassionate care, by ensuring their unique needs are understood and addressed.

  • Worked as one of two Primary Emergency Nurses alongside Fanau Ola to undertake a Pacific Pilot initiative.
  • Purpose of Pacific Pilot was to identify reason for high number of Pacific users of ED.
  • Aim to reduce patient wait times by reviewing Triage 4 category patients & then striving to collaborate with ED physicians to quickly assess these patients and deliver appropriate treatment while managing rapidly changing conditions.
  • Aim was to improved patient outcomes by consistently providing high-quality emergency care for our Pacific patients and implementing evidence-based nursing practices.

Visited Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital in 2017, 2019 and 2022 as part of a Clinical Teaching Team from Middlemore Hospital Emergency Department.

Each visit was for one week only.

The purpose of this team was to provide teaching and training to the TTM Emergency clinical staff and to support the Emergency Department by enhancing and strengthening their current systems, processes and protocols where necessary.

The week was comprised of teaching sessions which focussed on topics recommended by the Samoa staff.

The team was made of 2 Emergency Physicians and 2 Emergency nurses.

This initiative was supported by NZ MFAT and CMH (now Te Whatu Ora).

  • Worked primarily in rural remote regions of Australia as an Agency Registered Nurse.
