The $5.5 billion project is ambitious. It’s the largest transport infrastructure project that New Zealand has ever built. The twin 3.45-kilometre-long tunnels, built up to 42 metres below the Auckland city centre, will connect downtown at Waitematā Station (Britomart) with a redeveloped Maungawhau on the Western Line. Two new underground stations will open up central city access: Karanga-a-Hape, with entrances at Mercury Lane and Beresford Square, and Te Waihorotiu, at Victoria and Wellesley Streets, Midtown. Delivered by Link Alliance (Vinci Construction Grands Projects SAS, Downer, Soletanche Bachy, WSP, AECOM, Tonkin + Taylor, and CRL Ltd).
Project Overview:
The four-lane Waikato Expressway Hamilton section reduces travel time between Tirau and Auckland by 35 minutes, improving safety. The 21.8 km expressway project involved four million cubic meters of earthworks, 17 bridges, five major intersections, and extensive local road crossings.
The Meerut to Haridwar National Highway 58 (NH-58) section. The Delhi-to-Meerut section is already a 4-lane, 52 km km highway. The Meerut to Muzaffarnagar section is also four-laned and developed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
