Suma brings 10 years of experience in stormwater modelling and design, with the last 2 years spent at WSP New Zealand as part of the 3Waters team. In her current role, she leads Tier 2 projects, manages projects, and performs technical work related to hydrological and hydraulic modelling for stormwater assessments using ICM InfoWorks and HydroCAD. She also specializes in stormwater design for road reticulation and 3D modelling of pipes in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Suma has contributed to several significant projects, including the Brynderwyns Recovery work, Emergency Works in Maungamuka (August 2022), and the NZTA Northland Resilience and Emergency projects. Her responsibilities in these projects included designing road crossing culverts and road reticulation networks. She conducted hydrological and hydraulic modelling to assess catchment areas using ArcGIS and QGIS and performed hydraulic calculations for 10- and 100-year rainfall events using HydroCAD and HEC-HMS, adhering to NZTA recommendations and specifications. She is also familiar with P46 & TP108 specifications for stormwater design.
Her past experience includes:
- Hydraulic Design of Open Channels for Indian Projects: Suma has experience in designing open channels for various projects in India.
- Planning Consent and Capacity Checks: Suma provided planning consent for developer services on behalf of Southern Water company (UK Water company). She also conducted capacity checks for wastewater and stormwater systems using ICM info works.
- Hydraulic Modelling of Wet Utilities (Sewer GEMS & Water GEMS): She worked on land development projects in the Middle East, using Bentley's Connect edition of Sewer GEMS and Water GEMS.
