I have been looking for this exact job since selling my publishing company last year and recently completing the editing of two books. Gardening is my passion. I have written and edited gardening books and magazines devoted to gardening topics (including NZ House & Garden, In Your Backyard: Urban Harvest, Great Gardens of NZ), all while developing and tending my own gardens.
I have an extensive laywoman's knowledge of many aspects of gardening from large rural properties to urban courtyard 100% edible gardens. I am excited by plants and how people benefit from their gardens.
I want to work locally, part-time and I like the Kings Plant Barn ethos and history.
During this period as Editor-in-Chief of Stuff/Fairfax Magazines, I led a large team creating 14 magazines, as well as editing NZ House & Garden and NZ Life & Leisure at the same time. This was a busy corporate role implementing necessary change in publishing processes while maintaining successful newsstand performances by individual titles.
I have always been an avid gardener and developed several properties with large and successful gardens - the Auckland gardens required many many visits to Kings Plant Barn, as does my daily gardening these days.
I am a fit, active person and since the sale of my business I have looked for a job just like this- part-time, in gardening and local. Kings Plant Barn is my go-to plant retailer and I'd love the opportunity to work there.
