Work History

Nurse Practitioner

Self Employed
, Hawke's Bay
09.2018 - Current
  • I work as a Nurse Practitioner in a wide range of industries in Hawke's Bay. Taking the Clinic to the Client in the workplace, enables the employee access to health services easily, with minimal downtime and at no cost.
  • My NP Clinic provides a range of services including primary health care, early intervention, ACC and injury management, health assessments and monitoring including hearing, vision and lung function testing. I liaise with general practice and specialist and other services providing continuity of care.
  • I perform clinical assessments, order and evaluate lab and radiology tests to make accurate diagnoses and develop treatment plans.
  • I prescribe medications based on patient needs and current clinical standards of care.
  • I collaborate with specialists to coordinate optimal patient care outcomes. By working with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated services for complex cases we develop tailored care plans for each patient. This patient centred approach enables opportunistic sharing of knowledge with the patients and families about medical treatments and self-care management. This builds trust and rapport with patients by listening to concerns, advocating for wellness and educating on acute and chronic health issues. I listen and counsel patients on lifestyle modifications to improve their overall health. I invite them to bring a support person or partner to Clinic. I will provide a phone consultation if they cannot come into the clinic.
  • I practice at an advanced level, autonomously and collaboratively utilizing evidence based best practice, critical thinking and health systems (eg: BPac, NICE, NZ Formulary, Health Pathways) to provide meaningful plans and reports on outcomes. I attend continuing education courses to stay up-to-date on best practices in nursing care delivery.
  • I utilise computerised Resource and Patient Management System and Electronic Health Record, MedTech 32 and Healthlink system. I maintain detailed records of patient visits, diagnoses, treatments, and test results.
  • The workplace is an ideal location to promote health and wellness and I collaborate with health groups to plan or implement programs designed to improve overall health of communities.
