Work History

Scale A ACET Teacher Year 6

Kohimarama School
Kohimarama, Auckland
01.2025 - Current
  • I changed year groups this year in order to develop my skillset and experience. I have worked effectively with the new curriculum to produce high-quality, engaging lessons, where students have agency and choice over their learning. I have positively effected my new team by developing a "Jump Jam" group of students who perform weekly for the younger years and lead them in their fitness. This year, I have also been responsible for Spotlight, the replacement in our school for Schooltalk. This has involved creating an induction program for new staff, helping my peers with any queries, and collaborating with senior leadership on the best way to roll out this new program.

Scale A Hub Teacher With ACET

Kohimarama School
Kohimarama, AUK
01.2022 - 12.2024
  • From 2022 I have worked in a hub environment of three Year 3 classes. We plan and teach collaboratively. Whilst we have pastoral care responsibilities for our own class, all teaching and assessment is worked on collaboratively.
  • We worked hard on our collaborative working practices and environment usage to such a degree that our mentor, Dr Mark Osborne used our Hub as an example to others.
  • In 2024 I also took on the role of Schooltalk Leader, responsible for driving pedagogy, and maintaining standards with regards to our on line learning. This has involved training and continued support of new starters, presentations to parent community and the Board of Trustees and collating and reflecting on teacher practice within the school in consultation with Senior Leadership.
  • I have also been part of discussions about reporting structure going forward and new initiatives with regards to the programme.

Scale A Teacher With ACET

Kohimarama School
Kohimarama, AUK
01.2017 - 12.2021
  • I worked as a scale A teacher in the Junior school. I taught Year 2 and then a Year 3 class for 4 years. In that time, I worked increasingly collaboratively with my year 3 colleagues, cross grouping, team planning and writing reports across the team.
  • I introduced the school to SEESAW and Class Dojo as communication and sharing tools for the parent community.
  • In that time I also choreographed dances for a school production, took on a number of Grad Dip students, completed my ACET qualification and worked remotely during COVID.
  • My children all made pleasing progress in the year they were with me, and it is important to me to see many of them develop into role models within the school as they grow older.

Year 3 And 4 Mixed

Baverstock Oaks School
Flatbush, Auckland
01.2014 - 12.2016
  • 2014 was a big challenge for me as I changed year groups.
  • I ran a sound programme which listened to, and incorporated the interests of, the children in my care and had a strong technological slant.
  • I introduced Google Slides for writing purposes and apps such as Stop Motion and Movie Maker.
  • I used both of these apps to showcase learning in Literacy (retelling stories) and Numeracy (explaining strategies such as Tidy Tens and Place Value and Number Knowledge such as pairs to ten, multiplication facts and skip counting).
  • We are also made full use of the online portfolio app SEESAW.
