Summary

Self-motivated and very driven with extensive experience in leadership positions and working in team environments. I manage time efficiently and work well under pressure. I thrive off challenges and love physically and mentally demanding activities. Currently in my fourth year at Lincoln University studying a Bachelor of Agriculture Science with honours. Whilst completing work I am driven to reach my full potential and strive to produce high quality work, which is reflected in course grades and a GPA of 6.67. Having grown up on a dairy farm in Taranaki, I am enthusiastic to make positive changes in this sector. Have a keen interest in all primary industries, however, have a very strong passion for animal science, genetics and sustainable practice. Driven by collaboration, learning and innovation within the agriculture industry, and aim to inform and inspire upcoming generations on the future solutions and transformations in the farming industry.

  • Summer internship role in the Land Management Department working with the Hill Country Team.
  • Assisted in a ArcGIS project whereby STRESS funded afforestation blocks were graded.
  • Streamlined office processes for improved efficiency and time management through regular organization and filing.
  • Worked in the Lepperton Poplar and Willow Nursery doing summer pruning.
  • Gained hands-on experience in various software programs, increasing proficiency and expanding technical skill set.

  • Over the 2021/22 summer I completed my university practical work on a sheep and beef farm located in Pio Pio, King Country; Rotomate Station
  • During this period I managed 1 of 4 blocks of land, whereby I had responsibility of 12 mobs of bulls and 2 mobs of sheep
  • My main role in this job was shepherding, however, on a day to day basis my role also included a lot of stock work and general farm work
  • This included, vaccinating, drenching and weighing stock, fencing, checking water and power across the farm, docking, shearing, crutching, weed and pest control, feeding out supplement to stock and small experience in soil testing and spore counts
  • Since my summer employment here, Mathew and Kim Sherriff have had me back over university holidays for casual work.

General Farm Worker

  • In this job I have worked in multiple positions, including relief milking, rearing kids and general farm hand
  • This included milking morning and night, as well as setting up the milking sheds and full shed and system wash downs
  • After milking wash downs consisted of a variety chemicals that were to be measured accurately, and a precise procedure of adding them to different waters to be run through the sheds system
  • Rearing kids required feeding twice daily and providing extensive care for them
  • I also helped with general farm work and maintenance required.
