He ata te mea nui o te ao He Tangata, he tangata, he tangata
What is the most important thing in the world?
It is the People, it is the People, it is the People.
As an educational leader, I strive to create positive relationships where all people feel heard, empowered and cared for. My philosophy as a leader is to build mana and spark curiosity. In my teaching practice, so far, I have worked hard to construct a curriculum that engages, inspires and validates students’ own identity and creates realistic and reachable content that is relevant to their own lives. I model a collaborative approach in my work by encouraging those around me to share their strengths and knowledge, and construct best practice curricula through sharing and reflecting. As a lifelong learner I am consistently seeking professional development opportunities, research and inquiry to develop my skills and teaching vision throughout my career.
Additional units for Religious Studies & Aotearoa New Zealand's Histories curriculum development
I accepted this position to enhance my skills and passion for teaching History and Social Studies. From 2022 - 2024 I have worked hard at developing an engaging localised social studies curriculum focused on turangawaewae and implementing many successful field trips at both senior and junior levels. When the HOD Religious Studies position became vacant, I responded to the challenge of assisting the DRS to develop a completely new curriculum design within the Religious Studies Department during 2023 to 2024.
