Marching New Zealand Service to Marching award 2022

Marching

I have been involved with the sport of Marching for nearly 30 years, starting off as a Marcher, and marching in top teams across all grades having attained multiple local, regional and national titles. In 2015 I started my own team and have placed every year we have competed. I have mentored young coaches, and teams from across Canterbury and New Zealand, and have been awarded a Marching New Zealand award for my service to the sport of Marching. Marching has given me the most amazing experiences, working with a cross section of cultures, back grounds and teaching me how teams work and function, It pushes me to be better and enables me to be a stronger more confident worker and person. I am currently on the judges adjudication panel to implement upgrades to our sport, and am advocating for change for the use of Te Reo within our sport, to better represent our culture and member identity.
