With a lengthy background at Presbyterian Support, Otago, I excel in event planning and exhibit compassion in resident support. My journey from an assistant to Diversional Therapist Supervisor highlights my adeptness in staff management and volunteer coordination, significantly enhancing residents' quality of life and operational efficiency.
In 1983, I commenced duties as a part-time Activities Coordinator's assistant in a residential aged care facility. In the following years, I completed a number of training courses and showed an aptitude for the duties required, resulting in becoming the Activities Supervisor and Volunteer Coordinator in 2006.
My role is very diverse; some of the duties I perform are staff management, including interviewing job applicants and volunteers, weekly activities staff meetings, staff rosters and timesheets for payroll, authorizing holiday pay and other leave, staff performance appraisals, health and safety, wellbeing, and quality meetings, residents' meetings, and catered functions such as morning and afternoon teas, Christmas functions, etc.
I consider the most important role I play is to ensure the residents have a great quality of life and are treated with respect and kindness.
