- My current employer (citycare) contracts to Auckland council for facilities maintenance across south auckland
- In my role as a handyman/apprentice most of the time i am on my own undertaking reactive maintenance work for the Auckland council that could range from a broken door handle needing to be replaced, a roof that is leaking and needs to be fixed or a fence that has been hit by a car.
- On occasion we are in a 2 to 3 man crew completing jobs such as, building storage rooms into council facilities, re cladding the exterior of the local pools building or laying concrete down for new pathways in council reserves.
- In this role i am responsible for providing quotes to Auckland council to do required maintenance if costing is over a set valIe of $1000
- i have maintained professional relationships with clients throughout the duration of each project, keeping them informed on progress updates and addressing any concerns as needed.
- This job is a very physically demanding job as some jobs require you to carry upwards of 30kg at a time into sites that can not be accessed by vehicle such as, walking bags of concrete into path 1 by 1 to repair patch as a vehicle can not be driven down, carrying treated timber up hill to fix secluded bench seat or lifting a old post with concrete stuck to it into van to dispose
- in this role i am on-call every 4 weeks from Friday to Friday 24/7 for critical jobs such as, broken windows, gates smashed into now wide open or door locks broken and not able to lock facility
