On this farm I am currently working with 400 cows on my own with a roster of 12 and 2. My normal daily tasks consist of Milking the cows twice a day ensuring herd performance is at its best as well as the wellbeing of the stock in a clean and tidy environment. Setting up paddocks/break fencing, feeding out silage then feeding out PK for the afternoon before milking. I am a confident fencer, utilizing this on farm when I have free time to get it done. I am also confident operating farm machinery and tractors, completing an ITO tractor course a few years ago. During calving my responsibility is to prepare the calf sheds, collect the calves, fill the milk feeder and move the calves once on grass. Also ensuring the cow's optimum health is a priority. I am confident with calving cows if necessary as well as treating down cows.
A typical day for me on this farm is a 5:15am start home at 6-6:30pm
On this farm I worked in a team with 2 other workers and 350 cows rostered on 12 and 2. My daily tasks consisted of milking cows ensuring optimum stock health, performance and production. Setting up paddocks and break fences when needed utilizing the team environment. Assisted in calving procedures ensuring safe delivery of calves including night checks during calving. My partner was full-time calf rearing on this farm with 2 of the best calvings our boss at the time had seen. Due to our son nearly being ready to start school we prioritized his wellbeing by moving closer to town allowing him time at Kindy before transitioning to school. Therefore, meaning I had to hand in my notice which caused some unfortunate conflict with my boss at the time refusing to pay me out what was owed. Due to this I am unable to utilize him as a reference.

From time to time, I would work alongside my boss at the time well he was in the digger, as I would spot him ensuring for a safe outcome. Assisting in the build of several fences and decks with guidance allowing me to upskill my knowledge in the industry. This job was for a short period of time due to being in-between finding a new farm job.
