  • Company Overview: Calibre has been acquired by Egis at the end of 2023. My current position has been in place since Egis acquired Calibre.
  • I am on the People and Engagement leadership team and my role reports directly into the People and Engagement Director, ANZ.
  • I lead the P&E team for the largest business line in ANZ – Energy and Sustainable Cities.
  • There are currently around 650 people within this business line across Australia and New Zealand, as well as within a global/international.
  • I have a team of two advisors and one Senior Business Partner who support.
  • Develop and roll out people strategies to boost employee engagement and satisfaction as well as supporting the operational and business objectives.
  • Manage talent by overseeing recruitment, onboarding, and retention, ensuring the right people are in the right roles and have opportunities for growth, in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Deliver talent management processes that provide regular feedback and help employees develop their skills, aligning with stakeholder expectations.
  • Promote diversity and inclusion through policies and initiatives that make everyone feel valued and included, fostering stakeholder support.

  • I commenced at Hays in the Brisbane office as an Associate Recruitment Consultant; I was then promoted to a Recruitment Consultant 9 months later.
  • In March 2010, I relocated to the South Auckland office and in September 2010, was promoted to Senior Recruitment Consultant.
  • There I managed a team of three other consultants and ran an Accountancy Support desk, focussing on the South and East Auckland market.
  • Helping clients to find suitable candidate to fill their vacancies.
  • Creating and placing adverts on relevant job boards and local press, etc.
  • Making phone calls to candidates who are judged to be eligible.
  • Conducting phone interviews with prospective candidates and then bringing them in for a face to face interview.
  • Doing background checks and verifying the references, work experience and academic qualifications of applicants.
  • Screening, testing and assessing candidates.
  • Receiving and reading through the CVs that job seekers have sent in to the recruitment agency.
  • Arranging interviews with candidates who have been short listed for a position.
  • Drawing up short lists of suitable candidates.
  • Involved in negotiating the salary between the client and the candidate.
  • Attending network events and using marketing to attract suitable and potential candidates, e.g. attending the CFO summit.

  • Training - Working on Training Programmes for presentation to staff and/or managers, such as Managing Absenteeism and Managing Underperformance.
  • OH&S – Providing support to the OH&S Manager with research, sourcing products, and communications.
  • Recruitment – Support to the Recruitment Officer in the next recruitment drive, support included but was not limited to designing a new written 90minute assessment, assessing this assessment, designing recruitment team activities.
  • Leading the end to end recruitment process of a Senior Administration Officer.
  • Was a panel member in the annual recruitment drive for entry level quarantine officers.
  • General support to the HR, OH&S Team and the wider organisation.
  • General HR Administration such as filing employee records, ensuring HR systems are up-to-date, creating letters for changes in the employee’s terms and conditions.

  • A small team of 3-4, I held the position of Human Resources Coordinator/Advisor acting in both a support and advisory capacity within the team.
  • Because the team was so small, I gained generalist experience in many aspects of Human Resources – such as below:

  • Health and Safety.
  • Owned the H&S Framework for Bendon, ensuring legislative compliance.
  • Managed & maintained Bendon’s H&S Policies and Procedures documentation.

  • Assisted the HR Advisors with coaching of managers, ensuring exposure to legal action through poor procedures is eliminated.
  • Worked with managers to ensure issues with their staff are addressed promptly and appropriately e.g. misconduct, serious misconduct, abandonment and poor performance, etc.
  • Handled all staff enquiries around their employment terms and conditions; leave entitlements, maternity leave, annual leave, sick leave, bereavement leave, etc.
  • Performance Development.
  • Project Work.
  • Review of the High Turnover in our Retail/Outlet stores. Conducted an investigation into this and analysed results which enabled positive change to be put in place.
  • Assisted with the recent restructure of the Company. This was a highly confidential restructure which impacted many individuals within the company.
  • Reviewed the Induction Framework, created and put in place a new – more meaningful framework for new employees, ensuring managers were educated in the framework.
