Summary

Nursing was a career that I chose to pursue because it gives me the opportunity to truly make a difference in someone's life, which reflects and represents my values of empathy and compassion, which have sustained me through my nursing practise. I am an engaging and willing nurse who is always looking for new possibilities to further my knowledge. I am comfortable in team environments and am well-liked by the members of the larger multidisciplinary team. I believe I provide a good spirit to the ward setting, which allows for more interpersonal and therapeutic ties, resulting in more personalised treatment. I am looking forward to a new challenge and the opportunity to improve my nursing assessment and communication abilities.

Work History

Registered Nurse - OPR3

Waikato District Health Board
03.2021 - Current

I have been working in OPR3 since 2021 following my nurse entry to practice (NETP) in OPR2. OPR3 was primarily Orthopaedic rehabilitation but in 2022 had transition to becoming a general medicine ward due to the ongoing demand within the hospital.

I have been working with a range of patients in varying from medically stable and completing rehab, to declining patients who are requiring extra care and attention, and patients that are on their last days of life and are palliative. Throughout my practice, I have been working with acute geriatric patients that require extensive medical treatment. I have been able to further develop my communication skills and building therapeutic relationships. I have seized opportunities that further my learning and skills by becoming a coordinator of the ward, Precepting, moving into a senior nursing level and completed my Post graduate Certificate.
