Liam Loughran

• Dynes is a large transport company based throughout New Zealand. In the 3 years I have been with them, I have been working in the following areas:
• Tippers, concrete mixers, delivery of grapes for wine (live liquid load in an open bin tipper unit), milk tankers (line haul night shifts), swing lift (moving containers), and logging trucks, in complex driving conditions in the NZ forestry industry.
• In each of these situations, I have managed efficient loading, unloading and load security.
• I enjoy my role and the company. I am leaving to pursue new opportunities and experience in Canada with my partner.
• I work to tight timeframes and work hard to ensure I am both within safety limits but delivering to company delivery standards.
• I am competent with freeway driving and difficult back-country and forestry roads.
• Dynes is a modern company with a good tech basis to their operations. I am comfortable with tracking and reporting systems.
• I work with a diverse group of people, and always show respect to whomever I am dealing with, be it managers, other drivers, crew on the ground, and other motorists.
• I can conduct safety inspections on truck and equipment to verify proper operation.
• I communicate as required with dispatchers to provide timely information in a complex scheduling system.

During my time at Cargill Contracting I obtained my class 2 and 4 licence and started my career as a truck driver. I learned many things about the trade along the way. I gained experience driving new and old model vehicles in a variety of different situations, making me very mindful of load capacity and engine capability.

• During my time at Otago Polytechnic, I learnt about the mechanical operation of a range of different vehicles
• I also completed an assessment on health and safety and gained significant knowledge on how to use tools and equipment safety
• I worked in the facility's mechanical workshop, completing tasks such as vehicle servicing, maintenance and mechanical assessments.

This was an after-school job, getting on-the-ground experience in the industry. I Worked here as a general labourer completing tasks such as truck servicing and maintenance.
