I am married with 2 children, Jesse is 16 and Anika is 13.
Prior to having children, my work background was in Banking & Finance for 18 years. When Jesse was 6, I started work as a Teacher Aide at Welbourn School. I loved this role and worked with children from New Entrants up to Year 4. I had a six month break in 2022 to better support my own children.
I am currently working as a Teacher Aide in a Y5/6 classroom. I work with a number of children individually in the classroom as well as take Maths groups. I also co-ordinate the food assistance for the school via the Kickstart program, On the House food rescue and several other suppliers.
I am also the school Librarian, which is a new role for me this year.
In January of each year for the past 5 years I have assisted my sister Trudi Neumann in the Highlands Intermediate Uniform shop. I help her stock the shelves, fit the uniforms and process the payments.
We are often the first contact people have with Highlands and often help provide other basic information for students starting that year.
I am a very organized person who is used to dealing with children and parents who can be anxious about starting a new school. I am also aware that this can be financially stressful for some families and have empathy and discretion to work through this with them.
As the Retail Manager I was responsible for all aspects of running the Uniform Shop including, ordering stock, stock control, uniform fittings, hireage of Blazers etc. This also included the online store which included all school photos and Premier sports teams gear orders.
The Communications Assistant role was creating Facebook and Instagram posts for the school pages.
Working one on one with a specific child to assist them in the classroom as well as taking groups of children for programmes such at Early Words and Phonics.
I have worked with children with a wide range of challenges including: FAS, Autism, ADHD and behavioural issues. Mainly in the Junior school area from New Entrant up to Year 4. I think it is important to have a good rapport with the teacher you are working with and the children and whanau you are supporting.
Working in Financial Services as a Rates Officer, I was allocated a section of the Rates to manage. The main priority was making sure regular payments were set up as required and debt collection arrangements were made and kept to.
I also had to answer any questions, concerns, or complaints people had in regards to their quarterly rates notices that were issued.
After the birth of my son in May 2008, I returned for 2 years to interview and assess customers eligibility for a Rates Rebate. This was both in NPDC and driving out to see people in their homes who were not mobile.
