My experience at Queen Margaret college has provided me with extensive knowledge and skills to develop my teaching strategies, resource building and understanding of both NCEA and IB diploma curriculums. This experience has exposed me teaching, assessing and moderating a range of assessments within both curriculums.


Key experiences include:

  • Teaching academic content at both NCEA and IB levels. Collaborated on unit and text planning for both curriculums.
  • Acted as Assistant Head of English as maternity cover for a year.
  • Conducted and assessed IB Individual Orals for Ib Diploma.
  • Taught and assessed NCEA internal and external content with a focus on NCEA Level Two.
  • Supervised English Extended Essays and supported students through the research and writing process.

Teaching Philosophy - Summary

My teaching philosophy strongly entails providing a safe, inclusive and encouraging environment that enables all students to reach their full potential. Throughout their education, students should be valued, respected and empowered to successfully achieve to the best of their ability. It is my responsibility to adapt my pedagogical strategies and knowledge to meet every learning need in the classroom. All students have the right to an education that equips them with lifelong skills and passions. I aim to ensure that all students are supported and feel a strong sense of belonging in the classroom.
