I am 21 years old, on track to graduate from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Building Science, with a double major in Project Management and Sustainable Systems Engineering. Following my graduation im looking to secure a position in a project management related role. Im eager to learn and progress my skills in the field and become a valuable asset my employers.
During my time studying at Victoria University i have learnt and developed my skills related to Budgeting, communication, scheduling and risk management preparing me for taking the next step into the Project Management industry.
In my variety of professional roles i have taken on in the past i have developed leadership/ managerial skills as well as working under pressure. Some of my roles included working with clients and strict timeframes.
Event staff member at Takina events was a position which revolved around working with the needs of clients. Events had to be set up and executed to precise standards. This position entailed catering to high priority cliental including NZ Government conferences, International Embassy conferences and other high profile figures. Planning and time management skills were essential within this role.
My role in this position required me to help customers both on the phone and in person while they shopped within the store. This role included sales and communication skills.
During my time in this position I was trained in product knowledge to be in a position where I could provide advice and recommendations in regard to any queries a customer may have. Due to the nature of the industry, customers required extensive advice with their purchases, I gained lots of experience in a customer service and communication role. Along with this I processed the purchases of customers. I opened and closed shop on countless occasions as well as taking on managerial skills when superiors were not available, this included working under pressure, making sure tasks were completed and problem solving situations related to customers.
My Waiter position at the Riverhead establishment entailed catering to the customers every need whilst keeping up with outgoing orders. I made sure the tables were always prepared for new customers coming in the restaurant as well as making sure the tables were well cleaned and cleared after the customers had left, during busy hours i learnt to work under pressure making sure tasks were completed in an allotted timeframe. I also prepare for weddings and other functions which were held on the premises, this always required a strict standard of perfection for a variety of tasks based on the wishes of the client.
