Ni sa Bula Vinaka, Noa'ia e mauri te ne gagaj tu tu atakoa, Otou asa le Lynette Sosefo born and raised in the beautiful islands of Fiji, with the ethnicity of Rotuman culture. I am a young Pacific Island women that has a passion for equal, quality, culturally oriented and meaningful education. I believe there is strength in drawing on teacher, student, family and community experiences and how that connects with education, culture, religion, language and tradition. My work and background connects to my passion, and helps me understand the influence of teachers and the importance of having a strengths based approach to teaching and learning. It is vital for the education system in New Zealand to understand that education is reciprocal and is a shared responsibility. There is strength in understanding that it 'takes a village'; and how teachers, learners, whanau and communities should always be at the centre of educational research. I aim to continue contributing to the existing Pacific research and frameworks; but also build and establish new connections that can contribute and progress Tagata o Le Moana in New Zealand and around the world.
