Through my school, a barista training programme was offered to students from my year group. I was quick to take this opportunity in hopes of improving my coffee making to the fullest, despite already being a part time barista.
Through this 4 day course (1st-5th of September 2025) I demonstrated my knowledge of commercial espresso coffee equipment, and prepared espresso beverages under supervision. I learnt additional ways of making the best coffee's I can, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
My current part time Sunday job is located by the Seaview Marina and is a popular place to stop for a coffee and a snack (especially during weekends). My team and I ensure every customer is satisfied with there stay and have formed tight bonds with regulars over time. I work at front of house, as well as the barista and do the preparation of food. Through my job I have mastered many skills, problem solved, multi tasked and made life long connections. I am comfortable with making any coffee and handle rushes very well.
During this three day course, I gained valuable knowledge and essential skills for being a barista. Through hands-on training and instruction I learnt a deeper understanding of coffee brewing techniques, beverage preparation and of course exceptional customer service. Having the role as Babysitter twice every week for two very active kids, was not easy at first. But, I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity as I grew so much understanding and patience, and shortly I was referred to as 'The favourite babysitter'.
I was hired to paint the chalkboards in the RSA, including the event center. I drew multiple designs in chalk to create a more inviting space for customers.
As a pottery helper being my first real job, I quickly learnt how to adapt, take instruction and self manage myself.
