That student in the library reads me a short story, and during that reading session, if they stumble on sentences or don't know how to pronounce certain words, I kindly correct them using the pause and praise method. After the reading session, I ask the student some basic questions about the text so that they can build up their reading comprehension skills. This program intends to build reading mileage – build on existing reading within classes and at home, improve vocabulary and comprehension through one-on-one tutoring, and gain a more positive attitude towards homework.
