I have been relief milking for a couple of years/seasons on the farm my husband has managed for 13 years.
I have fallen in love with just about every aspect!
I loved my job in retail.
I decided to do some volunteer positions while I wasn't working. I loved that.
We live on a dairy farm in rural Western Southland, we are in our 13th year here,
We have 3 daughters but only one left at home,
2 of them have a child each so I have a baby grandson and granddaughter, They are pure joy!
I am looking to do something different than farming. I will still relief milk when I can.
I would arrive and get the cows in for milking in either the morning or afternoon, sometimes for both.
I am good finding and identifying mastitis
I have developed a huge love for the farm we've lived on for going into my husbands 13th season.

I held 2 volunteer positions that i absolutely loved while I was not working.
The first was becoming a member of the Southland branch of the Royal Astronomical Society in 2015. I quickly became more involved, being invited to join the committee. Doing themed talks and presenting that to the society members, I went on the help the team with the observatory nights, public and private, I was Vice President for a year, I was also updating the Society Library, Elizabeth King and I started school holiday observations. They were a huge hit! It was so much fun. Then unfortunately they closed it due to safety concerns,
I have a written reference from the current President Elizabeth King, She is also happy to be contacted.
I plan on rejoining the society in the near future,
The second was a position on the committee of the Central Southland Netball Centre in Winton. I was also on duty nearly every Saturday of all the seasons I was there, I enjoyed this position and I learned a lot.
I operated the centres website adding the weekly draws, the weekly results, training information and kept it well maintained on the Sporty Platform.
When I was on duty on a Saturday we would do a bit of everything. We would prepare the complex for the days games, putting out equipment. We opened and supervised/helped the duty clubs each week who ran our canteen. We were responsible for checking scorecards after each set of games, We kept the restrooms and dressing rooms tidy, we supported our umpires, sometimes having to mediate to parents who thought they knew better and would spend the whole game shouting, this was challenging but I had great mentors. I only left this position after I became unwell for a time.
There are 2 lovely colleges who are happy to be contacted about this position.

I really enjoyed being involved in both of these areas, I am also into some amateur geology, collecting fossils and sea glass. I also enjoy photographing the night sky, particularly Auroras. I am part of a team who admins the Aurora Australis Page on Facebook. We currently have over 44,000 members.
