Hello, my name is Marcus Contrucci.
I am twenty-two years old, and have lived and worked across three different countries.
The beginning of my professional career starts with an internship during my final year of schooling in France at the age of fifteen.
For a week I interned at a gym (Keepcool, Gap, France) were I completed many different tasks and got my first taste of working in the physical activity domain.
Soon after my family and I moved to Canada were I would then spend the next three years of my life completing my high school education.
During this time I began my paid professional career working as a ski instructor (Lakeridge Ski Resort, Uxbridge ON, Canada). In the three years I worked at the Ski resort, I developed a love for working in the physical activity domain, coaching came as second nature to me very quickly.
I knew that I wanted to continue my professional career in this area.
Sadly this professional endeavor was cut short due to COVID-19.
After this I decided to look into a degree involving sports and physical activity. I applied for a Bachelors Degree in Sport Coaching at the University of Canterbury (of which I have now graduated with a double major Sport Management and Strength and conditioning and Nutrition).
Over the course of my degree, I spent every year working in a different coaching role. During my first year I was an Elementary School Netball Coach, during my second and third year I was a High School Coach for junior (first year) and senior B (second year) Basketball. During my third year I also was working with Rugby Canterbury as a Resource Coach.
However both my coaching responsibilities and my academics had to be put on hold in August 2023 due to health problems that put me in and out of hospital over three months.
I then went back to University at the start of 2024 to compete my Bachelors degree and during this time I coached a senior rugby side. This for me was perfect because it was exactly the area I wished to be apart of. I worked as a coach on the field and a trainer in the gym.
At the end of the year, I had finally competed my degree, and with options ahead of me I decided to persue a Masters in Sport Science.
During this time I am looking to work part time in the physical activity domain getting hands on experience in addition to my education.
