I am a very compassionate Support Worker known to provide tangata whai ora with respect, dignity, encouragement, person-centered support, and always putting each of their own beliefs first, as they are all different.
Having learned so much from my current job, I have assisted a tangata whai ora through palliative care while supporting her during her last few days (authorized by the service manager). Also, supporting a tangata whai ora who can be very challenging towards staff and flatmates, which has taught me to learn the triggers and how to de-escalate his behavior.
I thrive on helping those who need assistance, and building a trusting relationship with them and coworkers is detrimental in my eyes to being the best support worker I can be.
